Day 71 marks an important milestone on my abroad adventure.
Today I have been gone for 71 days and will be in Tasmania for another 71 days,
so I have officially made it to the halfway point of my Tassie travels. Time
has flown by and I can’t believe that I’m actually writing this post. Since it
is the halfway mark, I thought it would be a good time for me to reflect on my
journey so far.
I’ll be honest I’m completely stealing the idea for this
post from my best friend, Alex. I loved her halfway post on her study abroad
blog so much that I wanted to make one for myself too. Thank you Alex for the
awesome/smart idea!
Since I’ve been abroad I’ve….
- Survived a 16 hour plane ride
- Touched the Sydney Opera House
- Gone down 1,000 stairs in the Blue Mountains
- Slept in a car overnight
- Cuddled a koala
- Got pooped on by a flying fox (fruit bat)
- Found the Southern Cross constellation in the night sky
- Explored the Australia Zoo aka the home of my childhood hero
- Watched a show in the Crocesium
- Tasted the most disgusting thing on the planet… Vegemite (Sorry Australia I tried to like it!)
- Decided Australia does know what it’s doing when it comes to Tim Tams and Milo cereal
- Walked/hiked up a mountain
- Rafted down part of the Derwent River
- Overcome my irrational fear of walking on and over big rocks
- Swam in Wineglass Bay
- Seen a wild penguin feed her chicks
- Gotten hit in the chest by a landing shearwater
- Seine netted in Fortescue Bay
- Trapped and patted a brushtail possum on a class field trip
- Procrastinated on homework more than I ever have in my entire life
- Snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef
- Swam in a waterfall
- Seen a wild and endangered tree kangaroo
- Met people from all over the world
- Made lots of new friends (also from around the world)
- Learned so much about Australia, wildlife, different cultures, and myself
- Experienced tons once in a lifetime opportunities
Thank you for reading and celebrating #71 with me! Time goes
so quickly here and I feel like I’m always on the move or planning a new trip.
It was nice to slow down and think about all the incredible adventures I’ve had
so far.
I’m so fortunate to call Tasmania my home this semester and
can’t wait to see what adventures the next two months bring. I’m truly having
the time of my life here!
I’ll see you in 71 days!
Love Always,
Bobbi
Good read.
