Hello From Down Under!
Tanner and I have officially landed in Sydney, Australia and
started our life in the land down under.
Our 17 hour flight from Dallas to Sydney didn’t seem that bad... it was
actually the easy part! There were these cool tablet things on the seat, so we
watched movies and played games when we weren’t sleeping. We also saw the
brightest orange sunrise! It was absolutely amazing!
After the flight is when the struggles began….
Once you get off of the plane you instantly get thrown into
the real world. No one asks you if you need anything or dims the lights for you
so you can sleep. Haha We made it here yesterday at 6:05 am, however our
luggage decided that they weren’t ready to leave America. We got the news after
our flight that since we had a tight connection in Dallas out luggage didn’t
make it onto the plane and would arrive tomorrow afternoon. So fingers crossed the bags are here today.
On the positive side we got some super cute matching pajamas from Quantas… we
both rocked them last night. It was also nice not to have to deal with a lot of
bags when we were trying to get to our hotel or through customs. So as long as they come today I would say it
wasn’t that bad.
After getting through customs we were out in the real
Australia. There were like a billion different languages/accents being spoken
in the airport, which was really cool. However, it makes it set in really fast
that you aren’t in the comfort of home. We both kept saying that we wished our parents
were there.
First we had to find a shuttle to get to our hotel. We got
to the meeting point fine, but then the airport person in charge of the shuttle
service told us to get on the wrong shuttle. We got to a hotel that wasn’t ours
and had to explain to the shuttle driver that we honestly were told to get on
his shuttle. I’m sure he still doesn’t believe us. We got on a new shuttle and
this one eventually took us to our hotel... that guy didn’t believe us either.
They fortunately let us check in early!
We settled in and then went out on our first adventure which
I will talk about in Part 2… I didn’t want to make this post super long.
I miss everyone and will see you in 141 days!
Love Always,

So the journey and first hours in-country were a mixed bag of good and bad. At least you made the connection in Dallas...with the weather being what it was in the days before your departure, I had my fingers crossed that you'd make it. I can't believe the shuttle drivers hassled you! Hoping the luggage has arrived by now. Can't wait to read about first your big adventure! Cheerio, mate! :-)
